Nordkalk is the leading limestone supplier in Northern Europe. The company extracts and processes limestone for industries such as steel production, water treatment, and agriculture at approximately 50 locations across Europe. The reliability of its weighing systems is critical to business operations, as material flow management and invoicing are based on weighing data. Managing maintenance through multiple service providers had become cumbersome. As a solution, the company consolidated its services under Tamtron’s group-level service level agreement.
Tamtron and Nordkalk have a long-standing and extensive partnership covering a wide range of weighing solutions for both logistics and process applications. At the beginning of 2026, Nordkalk signed Tamtron’s first international group-level agreement in Sweden, covering truck scales.
Positive experiences tipped the scale
A few years ago, Nordkalk Sweden modernized its weighing systems in cooperation with Tamtron. At the same time, the company’s truck scales were migrated to Tamtron’s digital mScales weighing service.
Jesse Kaukola, Technology Development Architect at Nordkalk, had also gained positive experience with Tamtron’s Pro-level maintenance and service offering in Finland. At the beginning of the year, the service agreement was expanded to cover Nordkalk Sweden as well.
“This enabled us to achieve the level of maintenance management and service quality we wanted in Sweden as well,” says Kaukola.

Predictive maintenance reduces downtime
For Nordkalk, the functionality of its weighing systems is a fundamental business requirement.
“Invoicing is based on weighing data, so the reliability of our scales is critical to our business.”
Predictive maintenance is a key element of Tamtron’s service offering. The condition of the scales is monitored remotely, allowing Tamtron to address potential issues before they result in downtime.
“It often happens that Tamtron has identified and fixed a problem before we even had time to report it. Every avoided downtime incident saves us additional costs and delays.”
One operating model simplifies management
Previously, the maintenance of Nordkalk’s weighing systems was handled by several companies, each with its own operating practices. This made overall management labor-intensive and complicated monitoring.
“Managing contracts, information gaps, and varying service quality consumed time and energy. Now maintenance and support run smoothly because Tamtron’s group-level service agreement allows us to manage everything through a single contract, partner, and phone number,” Kaukola explains.
The group-level service level agreement covers statutory verifications, annual maintenance, support services, and agreed response times for fault situations in both Finland and Sweden. In Finland, the service covers six sites and seven scales, while in Sweden it covers seven sites and ten scales. The service concept adapts to local regulatory requirements: in Finland, statutory verifications are carried out every three years, while in Sweden they are performed annually in accordance with national legislation.
Local maintenance services are provided in the local language, while services such as extended telephone support are centrally available outside business hours in English.
“Maintenance is carried out using the same operating model and with consistent quality in all countries. Standardized reporting enables us to monitor the overall situation more effectively.”
Trust is built through effective collaboration
The greatest benefit of the group-level operating model is improved overall control and clear division of responsibilities.
“We can trust that Tamtron, as our partner, takes responsibility for ensuring that the service is delivered as agreed. When necessary, we develop our operations together,” Kaukola emphasizes.
Tamtron’s development work with its local service partner has also improved service quality in Estonia, and Nordkalk is considering bringing its Estonian operations under Tamtron’s group-level agreement.
“I would highlight trust and the ease of maintenance and service management as the most important aspects of our cooperation. When Tamtron ensures the reliable operation of our weighing systems, we can focus on our core business,” says Kaukola.
Tamtron’s group-level service agreement combines local service with centralized support. The service is available in Tamtron’s operating countries—Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia—in compliance with each country’s regulations.
